Prayers for Others and Ourselves (Wednesday) Please use one or more of
the following petitions from each section: For Marriage and Family For Marriage: Dear heavenly Father, of Your
generous goodness You created man and woman for each other that they might
rejoice in their love within the bounty of Your love and blessing. Grant husbands and wives always to live
within Your love, Your blessing, and Your protection, so that no sin or trial
may separate them. Enable them by
Your Word and Spirit, and within the family of Your Church, to live their life
confessing You as Lord. May they,
through days of happiness and sorrow, be drawn always closer to You and to each
other, even to the fulfillment of all Your promises in Jesus Christ, our
Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and
forever. [267] For Home and Family: Visit, we implore You, O Lord, the
homes in which Your people dwell, and keep far from them all harm and
danger. Grant us to dwell together
in peace under the protection of Your holy angels, and may Your blessing be
with us forever; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. [141] For Those Engaged to Be Married: O heavenly Father, grant that Your Holy Spirit may lead those who have pledged their love to one another that they may always know the joy of Your great love and dwell within it to the ending of their days; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. [142] For Adults Who Must Rear
Their Children Alone [to be added] For Godly Schools,
Church Schools, and Seminaries For Seminaries and Church Colleges/Universities: O God, Source of all abiding
knowledge, through Word and Spirit You both enlighten the minds and sanctify
the lives of those whom You draw to Your service. Therefore look with favor on the seminaries and colleges of
the Church, blessing those who teach and those who learn, that they may apply
themselves with ready diligence to Your will and faithfully fulfill their
service according to Your purpose; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. [151] For Christian Schools: Almighty God, our heavenly Father,
since You have committed the care and nurture of children to Your people,
graciously enlighten those who teach and those who are committed to their
instruction that they may know the truth and trust in You all the days of their
lives; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. [150] For Teachers: Grant, O Lord, to all teachers the
gifts of wisdom and discretion, kindness and faithfulness so that they may
effectively teach and guide; and grant to all Your people a ready willingness
to learn. Let the knowledge of
Your Word be preserved and extended among us that all may know You and, from
the least to the greatest, praise You now and forever; through Jesus Christ,
our Lord. [312] The petitions above

I thank You, my heavenly Father, through Jesus Christ, Your dear Son, that You have kept me this night from all harm and danger; and I pray that You would keep me this day also from sin and every evil, that all my doings and life may please You. For into Your hands I commend myself, my body and soul, and all things. Let Your holy angel be with me, that the evil foe may have no power over me. Amen.
